Lisa Baird's black boots

Lisa’s been performing poignant, accessible, unapologetically feminist and occasionally raunchy spoken word poetry since 2001. Sometimes she collaborates with performance poet David James Hudson. She has toured nationally and internationally, performing at poetry slams, basement shows, national and international festivals, demos, kitchens, conferences, and classrooms.

Her poetry appears in Arc Poetry Magazine, Rattle, Plenitude, and elsewhere.

Other writing

Lisa also writes nonfiction, mostly on themes of accessible healthcare, community acupuncture and trauma-informed care. She contributes regularly to the People’s Organization of Community Acupuncture blog and has written a chapter for The Remedy: Queer and Trans Voices on Health and Health Care.

Writing with others

Lisa offers writing workshops (heavily influenced by the incomparable Pat Schneider) suitable for youth, adults, timid beginners and confident writers. She is regularly floored by the brilliance displayed when workshop participants are given explicit permission to get vulnerable with the writing.
